Manzanillo is one of the three most important ports in Mexico as international ships arrive here bringing products from different countries. Because of its important port and the growth in tourism, Manzanillo is one of the best destinations in the Costa Alegre which is comprised of the beaches in states of Jalisco and Colima.

Manzanillo consists of three bays: Bahía de Santiago, Bahía Cenicero, and Bahía de Manzanillo.

Among the beaches that are worth visiting are Salahua, Las Hadas, Miramar, Santiago, La Boquita, La Audiencia, Isla Navidad, and La Colimilla.

The city is proud to have three of the most prestigious resorts in the Costa Alegre: El Tamarindo, Isla Navidad and Las Hadas.

Among the activities highlighted in Manzanillo is sport fishing as this destination is considered to be the Sailfish Capital of the World and every year the International Sailfish Tournament is held in November. Manzanillo is also a stop for various international cruise ships. Moreover, the city's infrastructure has the capacity and quality to meet the needs of visitors because of its various options of hotels, resorts, shopping malls, restaurants, golf courses, and nightlife.

Manzanillo is also known for its culinary specialties such as shrimp a la diabla, shrimp cocktail, lobster in garlic sauce, grilled crayfish, and the pork dishes of tatemado and chilayo.
Among the typical handicrafts of Manzanillo are necklaces, shells, crystals, wooden figures, and embroidered fabric.

The most important festival of Manzanillo is the May Festival with musical and artistic events and contemporary folk dance performances commemorating the anniversary of the city as a seaport.

About 800 km west of Manzanillo is the Revillagigedo Archipelago, Mexico's protected area formed by the islands of Socorro, Clarion, and San Benedicto, which was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2008. As part of the ecotourism activities of the islands diving is allowed so you can take in the beauty of marine life.
Getting There

This destination is bordered by the municipalities Minatitlan, Armory, and Coquimatlán in the state of Colima, the Pacific Ocean, and the state of Jalisco.

Manzanillo is served by several highways: Colima-Manzanillo, Manzanillo-Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo-Minatitlan, Ramal-Aeropuerto, Cuyutlá- Manzanillo, and Libramientos-Colomos-Tepeixtles.

The Playa de Oro International Airport serves the area and receives flights from the major cities in Mexico and the United States.
